Welcome to the Cal Poly Robotics Club website! We are a project-based club that exemplifies the Cal Poly philosophy of “Learn by Doing”. We hold general meetings every other Tuesday from 11:00am-12:00 in room 20-140. Meetings typically consist of a project presentation or a guest speaker such as a professor or someone from the industry, and of course eating pizza. See the Meetings page for a calendar of upcoming meetings! We have many exciting events planned for this year and are always looking for more ideas.

However the primary focus of the club is on designing/building robots, which is done during separate project meetings by smaller project teams. All majors and skill levels are welcome to join. You don’t need to be highly experienced to join a project team; the point of doing the project is to gain experience. Take a look at the Club Projects page to see if you would like to join one of the projects we currently have going, or start a new project!

Registering for Wiki Access

To start creating/modifying pages on our wiki website, members need to:

  1. Register for an account.
  2. Notify an officer, such as Patrick or Darron that you created the account, so that we can grant your account edit permissions.
  3. Logout and login again to get the edit privileges.

Getting Started with DokuWiki

  • Simply go to the page that you want to edit and click the “Edit this page” button at the bottom.
  • PLEASE use the Preview button before saving your changes. Repeatedly saving the page to tweak the formatting will flood the inbox of anyone subscribed to page changes and generate useless revisions in the page history.
  • To create a new page, simply make a link from an existing page to a new unique page name. The link then shows up red because the page doesn’t exist yet. Click the red link and create the page.
  • Each project should have its own namespace (the namespace is the name before the colon in a link, ie: spybot:start). This way all the media associated with the project is in one place. The only exception to this rule is that sponsor logos should be uploaded to the sponsors namespace.
  • The “start” page is the main page for each namespace (like an index.html file).
